In most fictional portrayals, the person's physical body is disassembled at the molecular level at the starting point and reassembled at the destination. While the process is often portrayed as safe and effective, the question of whether the person "dies" during the disassembly and reassembly is a matter of philosophical and ethical debate rather than scientific fact. In reality, teleportation technology does not currently exist, so the question of whether people die when they are "beamed" is purely speculative. **
